CHEWELAH, Wash. – Battling a driving snowstorm and near white-out conditions, the College of Idaho placed three skiers in the Top-6 to earn their second-straight Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference qualifier title, winning today's slalom event at 49-Degrees North Ski Area.
The Lady Yotes combined two-run time of 4:37.72 was nearly six seconds faster than the University of Washington (4:43.21) and nearly 19 seconds clear of third-place British Columbia (4:56.25).
The trio of
Beth Mixon,
Elyse Burandt and
Mary Totten were dominant again – Mixon placing fourth (1:32.28), Burandt fifth (1:32.35) and Totten sixth (1:33.09).
Dana Randolph finished 15th (1:42.38) for the Lady Yotes, with
Emily Gahn in 38th (2:18.92).
Guest racer, Hedy Seeber recorded the two fastest runs of the day, winning the overall titile with a two-run time of 1:24.55, followed by Madeline Zeldes of UW (1:30.96) and Samantha Boughner of UBC (1:31.21).
Because of the storm - Sunday's slalom qualifier has been postponed - as the NWCSC will look to get the men's race completed that was canceled today.
