NAMPA, Idaho –
Hayley Morse continued her outstanding senior indoor season by breaking two school records and becoming the first Lady Yote to qualify for the NAIA Championships in the 20-pound weight throw, as the College of Idaho competed at the Bronco Invitational at the Jackson's Indoor Track Facility.
Morse opened the day with a fifth-place finish (out of 35 athletes) in the weight throw, launching a mark of 16.11 meters (52 feet, 10.5 inches) – easily notching an NAIA "B" standard. She followed with a seventh-place finish (of 37 athletes) in the shot put, surpassing her own school mark with a throw of 13.62 meters (44 feet, 8.25 inches) – the fourth-best throw in the NAIA this season.
In the field events,
Allison Cossins led the Lady Yote long jump contingent – recording a seasonal best mark of 4.94 meters (16 feet, 2.5 inches), while clearing 3.35 meters (10 feet, 11.75 inches) in the pole vault.
Payge Durocher had the top high jump mark by a C of I athlete, clearing 1.46 inches (4 feet, 9.5 inches), while
Claire Otero recorded a solid weight throw mark of 13.87 meters (45 feet, 6.25 inches).
On the track, the Lady Yotes competed in three events – as
Khiriona Phillips-Brown was the top C of I finisher in the 60-meters (8.44 seconds); Durocher had the best time in the 200-meters (27.49); with
Kiersten Lancaster led the C of I in the 600-meters (1:43.19).
The entire team will be in action in two weeks at the Jackson's Invitational.
