Burandt Wins Second Title, Lady Yotes Claim GS Gold

MCCALL, Idaho – Elyse Burandt claimed her second-straight NWCSC giant slalom qualifier crown, one of three College of Idaho competitors in the Top-5, as the Lady Yotes dominated the field on the Alpine Run at Brundage Mountain.
 
Burandt threw down the best run of the day in the morning session, blitzing the field by over a second and finished with a two-run time of 2:12.08 – well ahead of British Columbia's Anastasia Kiku (2:13.48).
 
Right behind the Coyote junior was teammates Beth Mixon and Mary Totten – Mixon recording the fastest time in the afternoon run to vault two positions into third (2:15.68), while Totten finished in fourth (2:16.46).
 
The trio helped C of I to a two-run team time of 6:44.22 – over 24 seconds clear of second-place University of Washington (7:06.34) and third-place Washington State (7:32.60).
 
Two other Lady Yotes were in the Top-20 – Emily Gahn in 16th (2:31.82) and Erin Skufca in 17th (2:32.33), while Dana Randolph failed to compete the morning run.
 
Next weekend, C of I heads to 49-Degrees North in Washington for their first slalom qualifiers of the season.
