MCCALL, Idaho –
Lucas Underkoffler led three College of Idaho skiers in the Top-10, helping the Coyotes win the season opening Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference giant slalom qualifier at Brundage Mountain.
Underkoffler placed third overall with a two-run time of 2:06.23 – helping the Yotes (6:27.21) to a 13-second team victory. The University of Washington placed second (6:40.98), followed by Washington State (6:49.94), Whitman (8:01.13) and the University of Idaho (8:20.23).
Cai Yamamoto of WSU earned the individual victory, recording the top time in both runs – finishing with a combined time of 2:03.00. Sam Demers of UW placed second (2:05.64), followed by Underkoffler.
Anthony Schifone placed seventh (2:10.03) and
Brady Nilsson took eighth (2:10.95) to compile the C of I team time.
Jarod Esnoz finished in 12th-place (2:19.16) and
Andrew Brinker placed 19th (2:35.21), while both
Arnav Virmani and
Trevor Trimble each failed to complete the morning run.
The seven teams will close out the weekend tomorrow with a second giant slalom qualifier – set for 10 a.m.
