Hayley Morse was named the Red Lion Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week for women's field earlier this week by the conference office.
Last weekend, Morse broke her own record in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 15.48m at the Ed Jacoby Invitational hosted by Boise State. Competing against mostly NCAA DI opponents, her mark was good for a fourth-place finish. The following day, Morse highlighted the weekend with another school-record breaking throw of 13.60m in the shot put. Her mark finished seventh at the meet, but it hit the NAIA 'A' standard and currently ranks fourth in the NAIA for the indoor season.
Morse is returning from a stellar 2017 season where she picked up a Cascade Conference Championship and a trip to the national championships in the shot put. She holds the indoor and outdoor school records in the shot put (13.60m and 13.39m, respectively). She also holds the indoor hammer throw record (15.48m) and ranks second in the outdoor hammer throw (47.88m).
Morse will be back in action with the the rest of the Yotes this weekend at the Bronco Invitational at the Jackson Track in Nampa, Idaho.
