NAMPA, Idaho – Kristopher Kostelecky hit the NAIA "B" qualifying standard in the high jump as part of a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon, leading the College of Idaho at the Ed Jacoby Invitational at Jackson's Track.

The sophomore recorded 4,383 points in the two-day event, with he and
Brooks Ney (4,246 points) each meeting the provisional NAIA heptathlon standard. The top-16 scores during the season earn automatic bids to the NAIA National Championships.
Kostelecky won the high jump with a clearance of 1.99 meters (6 feet, 6.25 inches) – hitting the "B" standard. He also placed fourth in the long jump (6.12 meters / 20 feet, 1 inch) and was second in the 60-meter dash (7.37 seconds) – an event won by teammate
Matt McLaughlin (7.29).
Josh Brown led the small group of Coyotes outside the multi-events – recording seasonal best marks in the shot put (14.16 meters / 46 feet, 5.5 inches) and the weight throw (15.57 meters / 51 feet, 1 inch) – while
Devin Gaskins recorded a time of 7.30 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
The Yotes will return to action next Saturday at the Bronco Invitational.
