YOTES OPENING RACE CANCELLED: C of I was set to open the 2017 season last Saturday at the Chukar Classic in Weiser, but Mother Nature had other plans. Poor air quality in the Treasure Valley forced Treasure Valley CC to scrap the race – with the Yotes and the College of Southern Idaho meeting Saturday on the C of I campus for a non-counting race – giving both squads a chance to shake the rust off after early season training.
THE REAL DEAL: The Yotes and Lady Yotes will officially open the season this Saturday, making the short trip to La Grande for the Cascade Conference Preview Meet. It will give C of I and host Eastern Oregon, along with Northwest, Northwest Christian, Corban, Oregon Tech, and Warner Pacific, a chance to see the Lane Farms course in preparation for November's CCC Championships.
RARE PREVIEW MEET: It marks the first time since 2013 that the Coyotes have participated in the CCC Preview Meet.
BOTH TEAMS HOLD IN NAIA POLLS: Both the Lady Yotes and Coyotes kept their positioning in the first regular-season NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll of the new year. The women remained at No. 4 – their 85th-straight week in the Top-25, while the men sit in the No. 10 spot. The CCC has four men's and four women's teams in the Top-25.
