KANSAS CITY, Mo. – College of Idaho setter
Marija Djonovic was named today the Lady Yotes third first-team All-American in program history, as the AVCA-NAIA All-America teams were announced.
The junior, from Podorica, Montenegro, joins
Whitney Brigham (2011) and
Kylie Porter (2015) as first-team picks.
Also honored was opposite hitter
Taylor Alexander, who was named to the second-team – just the sixth second-team pick for a C of I player.
Djonovic had a record-setting season for the Lady Yotes, helping the team to a 28-7 record and a trip to the NAIA national quarterfinals. She established a new 25-point rally scoring assists (1,484) and assists-per-set (11.59) record – leading the NAIA in assists per set. She finished with 312 digs, recording 19 double-doubles on the year – including a double-double in each match at the NAIA Championships.
Alexander, a junior from Ontario, Ore., closed the season with 13-straight matches with 10-or-more kills. She finished with 345 kills (2.97 per set), 93 blocks (0.80 per set) and 36 aces.
The duo become the 10th and 11th All-Americans in program history – all since the 2000 season.
