Yannelli & Kelly Break School Records at Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Caroline Yannelli and Maddy Kelly each established school records in the morning preliminary races on Day 2 of the Husky Invitational at King County Aquatics Center.

Yannelli was the only Lady Yote to compete in the evening session, taking sixth in the C Final of the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time in the prelims of 1:06.35 broke the school record – a time she equaled later in the day – recording the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Kelly broke her own school record in the 100-yard butterfly (57.81) – clocking the fastest time in the NAIA this season – missing out on the evening finals by just two places.

Four athletes hit new NAIA qualifying marks in the prelims, led by Deandre Small, who hit the auto qualifier in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.92). Earning bonus cuts were Taylor Gordon in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.79), Abby Schwarte in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.15) and Hailie Mazick in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.04).

Day 3 of the meet begins Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
