C of I Finishes No. 9 in Fall Directors Cup Standings

AUSTIN, Texas – Stellar performances by the College of Idaho cross country and volleyball teams landed the Yotes in the No. 9 position in the final Learfield NAIA Directors' Cup standings for the 2017-18 fall season, announced this morning.
 
C of I received 214 points from the three squads, as the volleyball team placed fifth overall at the NAIA Championships, earning 73 points, while the cross country teams combined for 141 – with the Coyote men earning 67.5 points for a tenth-place finish and the Lady Yotes earning 73.5 points for their sixth-place finish at the NAIA Championships. They are one of seven Cascade Conference teams that received points in the ranking, including five in the Top-25.
  
Columbia (Mo.) holds the No. 1 spot with 307 total points – placing in the Top-30 in five different sports. Southern Oregon (248), Wayland Baptist (Texas), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Northwestern (Iowa) (236) rounded out the Top-5.
 
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NAIA Championships, utilizing the top six men's and top six women's finishes.
 
The next set of NAIA standings will be released in mid-March and will include indoor track and field, swimming, wrestling and basketball.
