Kelly Breaks School Record in Whitman College Dual

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Maddy Kelly won three individual events and broke the 200-yard butterfly school record in the process, headlining an outstanding day for the College of Idaho in today's women's swim dual at Whitman College.

The Lady Yotes won six total events in the long-course dual, however, it was the Blues that earned a 145-106 team victory.
 
Kelly, started the day by helping C of I earn a tight victory in the 200-medley relay (1:51.99), before her record-breaking effort in the 200-fly, blitzing the field with a time of 2:13.41 – establishing a new NAIA auto cut. The mark shaved nearly a second off the previous school record and was the No. 3 mark in the NAIA this season.  The junior added dominating wins in the 100-yard freestyle (54.21) and 100-yard butterfly (59.71).
 
Caroline Yannelli swept the two breaststroke events – recording the fastest non-national meet time in program history in winning the 100-yard breast (1:07.91) and added a victory in the 200-yard breast (2:28.85).
 
Hailie Mazick clocked an NAIA "B" mark in the 100-yard free (57.28), while Taylor Gordon improved her NAIA "B" time in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.86).
 
C of I returns to action in two weeks at the Husky Invitational.
