CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho track and field/cross country head coach Pat McCurry has announced the signing of seven student-athletes to Cascade Conference Letter of Intents for the 2014-15 athlete season.

Of the seven freshmen heading to the Caldwell campus, two will compete next month as members of the nationally-ranked cross country program.

Leading the distance running class is Amy Pfaff of Hanford High in Washington.  Pfaff was a Top-20 finisher in the 3A state cross country championships as a senior, while in track, recorded Top-6 finishes at the 3A state meet in the 400-meters (57.50) and the 800-meters (2:16.16).

Also competing for both the cross country and track teams is Ashtyn Ellis of Eagle High, who recorded a top 5,000-meter time last season in cross country of 19:40.

A pair of high-caliber throwers headlines the Yotes' track athletes – as local products Hayley Morse and Claire Otero will compete for the Yotes in the spring.  Morse claimed the 2014 5A state shot put title, recording the top throw in the state with a mark of 42-2 3/4, while placing third in the discus (132-7).  Otero had the best throw in the 5A ranks in the discus this spring (139-7) – placing fourth at state in the event, while placing sixth in the shot put (35-11 1/2).

Multi-sport athletes Julia Fretwell and Ellie Packham will compete next spring in track – as both are currently members of the women's soccer program.  Fretwell will run the middle distance events after clocking a time of 59.34 in the 400-meters at Rocky Mountain High in 2014, with Packham, from Canyon Ridge High, competing in the hurdle events.

C of I will also welcome Middleton High jumper Allison Cossins to the squad this spring.
