LEWISTON, Idaho – An impressive eighth-place finish by Lila Klopfenstein helped the College of Idaho place second overall at the Inland Empire Challenge, hosted by Lewis-Clark State College, at the Lewiston Orchards.
Complete Results The sophomore recorded the fastest 5,000-meter time of her career, completing the course in 17:10 – the second-fastest non-NCAA Division I time among the 122 competitors.
Klopfenstein helped No. 15 ranked C of I finish with 58 team points – just behind No. 11 ranked at host LCSC, but ahead of the University of Calgary, one of the top Canadian Interuniversity Sport teams.
Freshman Amy Pfaff had a great morning, finishing 14th overall with a time of 17:32 – her fastest 5,000-meter time in her career. Jocelyn Allen recorded a new personal best time of 18:23, while Ruth Lewinski had her best race of the season, clocking a time of 18:35.
C of I has the next two weekends off in preparation for the Cascade Conference Championships on Nov. 8.
