Holt Wins NAIA National Title, Lady Yotes Finish Second

Hillary Holt wins NAIA National Cross Country title
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Led by an individual national championship by Hillary Holt, The College of Idaho placed a close second this morning at the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

The junior, from Boise, won her second individual national title of her career - as she claimed the NAIA outdoor 1,500-meter crown last spring.  Holt made a big move midway through the race and won with a time of 17:00, 20-seconds ahead of Lindsey Wilson's Sharon Ronoh.  Eastern Oregon's Karlee Coffey placed third, 29-seconds behind Holt.

"I am really proud of our team today," said head coach Pat McCurry. "We executed our race plan perfectly - Hillary made her move at the right time and I can't be more happy for her.  Whether we placed first, second, or fourth today, I know we gave it our all."

British Columbia won the team title - putting four runners in the Top-20, winning with a score of 98 team points, just 14 ahead of the Yotes.  In team time, UBC defeated the Yotes by just seven seconds.  Olivet Nazarene placed third, followed by Cal State-San Marcos and Carroll.

The C of I placed all seven of their runners in the Top-150 - netting three All-America finishes, as along with Holt, Sarah Johnson placed ninth overall (18:12) and Sora Klopfenstein placing tenth (18:13).  Senior Andi Hayes placed 52nd (18:56), with Kaitlyn Gerard finishing 89th (19:22).

From the Cascade Conference, Eastern Oregon placed 13th, Northwest Christian took 14th, with Concordia finishing in 16th-place.
